Tribe Boost Playoff Hopes With Jay Bruce Acquisition

He was rumored to be a target of the Red Sox, but it's the Cleveland Indians who have landed Jay Bruce—perhaps the most consequential acquisition of the year. For one thing, The Evil Ones didn't get him. For another, the Indians are still probably not as solid a contender for the AL pennant as they were last year—even with the addition of Bruce. That said, this is a good move for Tito's Tribe. With injuries to Lonnie Chisenhall and Michael Brantley, Cleveland needed another big offensive bat to protect the likes of Edwin Encarnacion, Francisco Lindor and Carlos Santana. Now they have him.
