Sox And Empire Set To Battle For Nippon-Ham Fighter

According to Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.com, the Red Sox and Yankees have slyly built up their international spending allotments in order to battle for the premier player in Nippon Professional Baseball's Pacific LeagueShohei Otani of the Nippon-Ham Fighters is a big, powerful left-hand hitter—who can also pitch! Each team—like a squirrel gathering nuts for the Winter—has pooled about $8 million dollars for the goal of landing the 6'4" 23-year-old. Though hampered some by injuries this year, Otani has hit .343 in 42 games. And, in 2016 as a pitcher, he went 10-4, with a 1.86 ERA and four complete games. It's unclear if the Yankees and Red Sox would want him to pitch or hit, but the kid is apparently a "can't miss" in MLB. Of course, we've heard that before.
