Boston Heresy! Dunkin' Donuts May Change Its Name!

The Original Dunkin' Donuts In Quincy, Massachusetts
There are very few New England traditions that have endured as well as Dunkin' Donuts. Pretty much anywhere you travel in the USA, the Canton, Massachusetts-based company has one or two or three or four outlets in every community. And, national advertising has propelled the brand to 'household name' status. So, why, WHY would the marketing geniuses at the company think about changing their name? Word is that a new location in Pasadena, California (of course) will be known simply as Dunkin'. It's sort of a "pre-test" for a wholesale name-change down the road. Apparently, having "donuts" in the name is seen as somehow not PC anymore. Growing up in the Boston area, it was the donuts that defined Dunks—particularly the jelly-filled ones (don't get me started). And, frankly, I think their coffee stinks—the stuff they're now trying to push as the featured item. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Remember "New Coke"? Exactly!
