Barring A Huge, Late Surge No Sox Will Be Voted To ASG

The latest updates from MLB suggest that no Red Sox players will be voted onto the American League All-Star team. While earlier tallies had Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts and even Andrew Benintendi with decent shots at election, the new results are not promising. For example, Mookie is 90,641 votes behind third-place OF George Springer. Even with #2 OF vote-getter Mike Trout likely out due to injury, Betts still trails the fourth place holder, Michael Brantley by 62,302. And, the X-Man is a whopping 609,966 votes behind SS leader Carlos Correa. Finally, Benny Ballgame is 253,388 votes behind Springer in the outfield race. So, unless Red Sox Nation mounts a massive get-out-the-vote effort (or hires a Russian hacking outfit), there won't be any Carmine Hosers in Miami on July 11th. Except, of course, any coach selections and/or an obligatory "designated" representative of the team (Chris Sale, Craig Kimbrel?)
