FOX Sports and
MLB Network analyst
Ken Rosenthal stated yesterday that
the Red Sox could fire manager John Farrell as early as this week. Despite Sunday's win—that prevented a rare four-game sweep—Rosenthal believes the axe could fall quickly. Said Rosenthal,
"If he was fired this week, would I be surprised? No. If he managed the rest of the season and they won the division, would I be surprised? Also no." Rosenthal feels that two events may hasten the firing:
Dustin Pedroia distancing himself from management on the
Manny Machado issue and the dugout spat between Farrell and
Drew Pomeranz. Farrell is signed through the 2018 season, but
John Henry has enough dough to cut the cord now. Stay tuned!
