Red Sox Need To Dominate An Inferior Athletics Team

(AP Photo)
With two impressive road victories under their belt, the Red Sox have an opportunity to begin to turn their season around with a series win in Oakland. The A's are (once again this year) a mess. They are in last place in the AL West (17-23, 11.5 games out) and are 4-6 in their last ten games. For goodness sakes, Yonder Alonzo is their leading hitter—at .271. Jed Lowrie, the 33-year old IF who left the Red Sox six years ago, has the most hits on the team (38). Their best starting pitcher is Andrew Triggs—a 28-year old righty who, while he does have an impressive 2.12 ERA and five wins, is still Andrew Triggs. Believe us, the A's are really bad—as their -45 run differential attests. The Carmine Hose need to take at least three of four from these guys.
