Red Sox Bats Bail Out Sale, Thunder To 13-7 Win

(AP Photo)
Maybe Chris Sale had the 'yips' facing his old teammates. Whatever the reason, he turned in a stinker of an outing—going just five innings and giving up six runs on ten hits. Luckily, Deven Marrero and his 'wrecking crew' teammates were up to the task—clouting six home runs (two by Marrero) in the 13-7 win. In addition to the rookie third baseman, the following Carmine Hose went yard: Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley, Jr., Xander Bogaerts (who had four hits on the night) and Mitch Moreland. Marrero had a career night, driving in five runs. Even rookie first-baseman Sam Travis had three hits and scored three runs. Still, seeing your ace perform so poorly (despite nine strikeouts) was disconcerting.
