Major League Baseball is considering a plan to allow
umpiring crew chiefs to wear microphones to explain replay rulings. One
proposed schedule would start the process at this year's All-Star Game, refine it for the balance of the season, and implement it fully in the 2017 post-season. Red Sox pitcher
David Price is not convinced that the new plan will speed up the game any,
"It’ll take more time. It’s not going to make them any shorter." The NFL-style process still needs the sign-off of the umpire's union—which is in the middle of a 5-year labor agreement. Stay tuned!
