The Orioles launched
five HRs—two by
Trey 'Don't Call Me Henry' Mancini—in
a 12-5 rout of
Steven Wright and the Red Sox. This one was a stinker from the get-go, as the Birds put a 6-spot on the knuckle-baller in the first inning. Fans had barely squeezed into their too-narrow 1912 seats—and this puppy was
over. Boston did close the gap to 9-5—and it appeared that the O's and
Ubaldo Jimenez would blow their first 9-0 advantage since they moved from St. Louis to
Charm City. It was not to be—despite a 2-run HR by
Pablo Sandoval and a three-hit night by
Xander Bogaerts. One word for this one:
forgettable. Hey, at least the Bruins and Celtics won.
