Red Sox Make First Roster Cut Of Spring Training 2017

The Red Sox made their first roster cuts of 2017 Spring Training—and there is a heavy emphasis on pitchers developed in the system. Pitchers Henry Owens, Brian Johnson, and Brandon Workman were cut today—along with catcher Jordan Procyshen. The pitcher cuts highlight the lack of starting depth in the Boston organization. In fact, the system hasn't developed a decent starter since the era of Clay Buchholz and Jon Lester (both of whom are obviously gone). For the first time since 2007, Boston's starting rotation will be comprised of all outsiders. Yawkey Way, we have a developmental problem.
