Sox Pitchers And Catchers Report To Ft. Myers Today

Among the many milestones in a baseball season, reporting day for pitchers and catchers is huge. While some players may have already arrived in Fort Myers, it is the official first reporting day that really signals the start of Spring. Interestingly, the pitcher/catcher contingent of the 2017 Carmine Hose is filled with both promise and potential problems. The promise is clear—three studs in the rotation: Cy Young-winner Rick Porcello, David Price and newly-acquired Chris Sale. The potential problems surround the health status of Drew Pomeranz, Eduardo Rodriguez and Steven Wright. Among the backstops, it's still unclear who will get the starting nod among Sandy Leon, Christian Vazquez and Blake Swihart. Having three solid options is a good thing—finding time for all three to actually play could be a problem. In any event, the Red Sox season is now officially open.
