Greg Holland |
Former Kansas City Royals closer
Greg Holland didn't pitch at all in 2016. He underwent
Tommy John surgery at the
end of a disappointing 2015 season. Before that (in 2013 and 2014), he was
dominant—with a 1.32 ERA and a 95% save percentage (93 total). Multiple reports suggest that
the Red Sox will be present at a Scott Boras-promoted "showcase" by Holland this coming Monday. Supposedly, he is back to throwing in the mid-90s and ready to sign somewhere as a free agent for the 2017 season. Adding Holland would bolster an already promising Boston bullpen—with the return of
Carson Smith at some point mid-year. Stay tuned!
