CBA Could Swap September Call-Ups For Roster Spot

The upcoming Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Major League Baseball and the players' union might include a compromise that is best for everyone involved. In exchange for the ridiculous 40-man September roster scenario currently in place, teams would get an extra permanent 26th roster spot. Also, expanded September rosters would be limited to 28—with some shuffling back and forth of players allowed. This is a supremely intelligent move if it comes to pass. No longer will we see an endless stream of nameless relief pitchers tramp to the mound in key September games. Clearly, most teams would allocate the 26th roster spot to a relief pitcher—something that would immediately help the Red Sox. Let's do this, Rob Manfred!
