You might remember the kid—nine straight strikeouts in
The Show (after a very promising first few games). Well, now
Yoan Moncada is playing in the
Arizona Fall League—after a brief detour to Fort Myers. In his first game yesterday for the
Surprise Saguaros,
Moncada went 3-5, with a solo HR and a double. The 21-year old switch-hitting infielder also scored three runs and knocked in two. Not a bad beginning. Said Moncada,
"I only played in a couple [Florida] games, but still got to see a lot of live pitching. It helped to keep my swing consistent and kept me focused before coming here." At Spring Training, Moncada will likely be in the third base mix—along with
Pablo Sandoval,
Travis Shaw and
Brock Holt. Stay tuned!
