Contrary to what many pundits expected,
John Farrell will not be fired by Dave Dombrowski in the wake of the Red Sox being swept out the playoffs in the first round. In fact, in about as clear terms as you can get, the Red Sox President of Baseball Operations said this,
"John Farrell will be our manager for 2017. His whole staff will be back." Of course, sports history is riddled with
"I'm 1,000 percent behind him" comments like this—soon to be followed by vicious actions to the contrary. But, it appears that Dombrowski is serious—and is going to stick with the management/coaching team that got him an AL East title in his first year in town.
