Wright Shuts Down Chavez Ravine, Red Sox Cruise, 9-0

Steven Wright is from Torrance—one of the 75,000 suburban communities surrounding L.A.—just 21 miles from Dodger Stadium (or six hours and thirty-seven minutes on the I-10). In fact, ex-Red Sox OF Josh Reddick (a newly-minted Dodger) got lost on the way to the game. Said Reddick, "For me it took four entrances and three wrong turns to get here, but I made it. I'll learn eventually." No you won't, Josh. In any event, doing well last night was important to Wright. Well, he kind of achieved that. Wright tossed a three-hit complete-game shutout at The Denizens Of Chavez Ravine—while his mates put their offensive shoes back on in a 9-0 whitewashing. Boston got HRs from Mookie Betts (a laser that probably would have been a single off the Monster at Fenway), Travis Shaw and Sandy "Babe" Leon. Leon—now Boston's #1 catcher—drove in four of the team's nine tallies. The only downside in this one is that Dustin Pedroia is now day-to-day after fouling a ball off his shin.
