Jonathan Papelbon is about to go up in a puff of smoke. After the stroke of midnight tonight, anyone signing the former Red Sox closer would not be able to use him in the post-season. So, why else would you want him—particularly Boston? Multiple reports suggest that Papelbon is standing firm and
will not sign anywhere by midnight. Of course, this could be a last-minute negotiating ploy—after all, this
