Offense Comes To The Aid Of Sox And Porcello, 6-2

(AP Photo)
Rick Porcello recovered from early trouble to pitch a terrific six innings (2 ERs, 6 Ks, no BBs) in a 6-2 win that featured the return of the muscular Boston offense. Both Xander Bogaerts and Jackie Bradley, Jr. hit solo homers in the victory—which had The Carmine Hose once again collecting double-digit hits (12). Porcello had a shaky first three innings, but continually escaped jams that could have proved far worse. Behind, 2-0, Boston began the comeback with the JBJ Jack, then cemented the lead on the Bogie Blast. In the process, the Red Sox added favorably to the new Elias Sports Bureau stat—created exclusively for them: WWW (Wins Without Wright).
