As we predicted, the Red Sox will activate (and promote to the major league roster) catcher Christian Vazquezon Friday. Regarded as an elite defensive backstop, Vazquez may immediately be inserted into the line-up—if for no other reason than to help the dismal starting rotation. Of course, this begs the question of what happens to the current catching duo of Blake Swihart and Ryan Hanigan. There still may be a trade in the offing for Hanigan to the Texas Rangers—since their main catcher is sidelined for three months. On the other hand, Swihart could be sent down to AAA for further seasoning. It's highly unlikely that the team will carry three catchers. Stay tuned!
