Red Sox Fans Wonder: Will We Ever See .500 Again?

(AP Photo)
Your 2016 Carmine Hose offense has scored 40 runs in its first seven games. Unfortunately, your 2016 Carmine Hose starting rotation has an ERA well over 7.00. That's a prescription for an under .500 ballclub—which is exactly what the 3-4 Red Sox are after a 9-5 loss to the juggernaut Orioles. Clay Buchholz was again putrid—wiping out leads with alarming precision. He went five innings 'plus' and gave up five earned runs. A dropped foul pop-up by Blake Swihart right before a tying 2-run HR didn't help matters. David Ortiz did clout his 506th career HR, but this game was another stinker from the sixth inning on. Once again, the bullpen did its best imitation of the rotation—digging ever deeper holes for the offense. With this crappy pitching, this club is going nowhere.
