Will Andover High's Ryan Hanigan Stick With Red Sox?

Hanigan At Andover High
Multiple reports indicate that Red Sox catcher Ryan Hanigan is garnering some trade interest. The Andover (MA) High School graduate is a sought-after commodity because of his deft handling of old and young pitchers and his decent offensive potential (for example, a .352 lifetime OBP). Last year, Hanigan hit .247 for the Red Sox in 54 games—with a .337 OBP. The Carmine Hose are understandably reluctant to part with Hanigan—at least until they are absolutely certain that Christian Vazquez is fully recovered from last year's Tommy John surgery. Even then, it may not be in the team's best interest to have only two very young backstops on the roster in Vazquez and Blake Swihart. Plus, the 35-year-old Hanigan likes being home. But, stay tuned!
