Finally, our long national nightmare is over. The Red Sox ended a seven-game Spring Training losing streak today,
beating the hapless O's 9-5 at Fort Myers. Clad in their green
St. Patty's Day finery, the Sox clouted out 14 hits—including a mammoth 3-run HR by red hot first baseman
Sam Travis. In addition to Travis, both
Brennan Boesch and
Marco Hernandez had two-hit games. Left-handed starter
Henry Owens had a rough outing, going just 2 2/3 innings, walking two and giving up four earned runs—including a three-run HR.
Matt Barnes got the win in relief, throwing 2 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Barnes has yet to yield a run in four outings.
