John Henry Proclaims Sox Move Away From Analytics

(USATSI Photo)
According to a Tweet by WEEI.com's Jon Tomase, Red Sox owner John Henry stated that—going forward—the team will "de-emphasize analytics". He went on to note that the shift would be "evolutionary, not revolutionary"—whatever the hell that means. So, the ultimate Geek Of All Geeks, Mr. Dispassionate Non-Discretionary Trading Guy is finally edging away from his MoneyBall binky. Perhaps it was the realization that the 2015 resurgence of Xander Bogaerts was chiefly due to his being less patient at the plate. Or maybe, three last place finishes in the last four years did the trick. Or maybe he's just been losing his shirt in the derivatives market. Anyway, dawn finally breaks on Marblehead. And we mean that in the nicest way, Mr. Henry.
