Hal Steinbrenner has announced that his team will honor retiring Red Sox DH
David Ortiz during his final visit to the Bronx (September 27-29). Said the owner,
"I am sure we’re going to do something. We have not formally, minute by minute, figured out exactly what we’re going to do yet. He’s a great player, great part of that franchise. Everything you like to see in a player." The tribute is not surprising, given all that Red Sox owners did during
Derek Jeter's final trip to Fenway. It will certainly be interesting to see what the "parting gifts" are for Big Papi.
