For those of us stodgy traditionalists,
any uniforms that deviate from the classic Red Sox white (home) and gray (road) are a sacrilege. So, news that
the team will be sporting hideous red uniforms and 'throwback' 1970s caps this Spring Training is just too much to bear. We
do have to admit that the signature "road sign" patches designating either 'Florida' or 'Arizona' as the training venue are pretty cool (although way too big—
especially on the caps). Anyway, this is just another example of MLB trying
way too hard to be trendy. Bah, humbug, we say!
