Red Sox Are One Of Just Four Teams Paying Luxury Tax

The Red Sox were one of only four MLB teams to go over the payroll limit—and thus got hit with a punitive luxury tax. Luckily they were nowhere near the leader of the pack—the Los Angeles Dodgers—who paid out $43.7 million. Next in line were The Bronx Embalmers who shelled out $26 million. The Carmine Hose were third on the list with a relatively paltry fee of $1.87 million. Lastly, the San Francisco Giants paid out $1.33 million. The Dodgers penalty was an all-time record as they had a whopping 2015 payroll of nearly $300 million ($298.3).
