The Red Sox are unlikely to sign Milton, Mass. native Rich Hill during their exclusive negotiating window (which ends tonight). Thus, the 35-year old lefty will become a free agent in his new re-incarnation as a starting pitcher. You might recall that Hill had an
astounding four starts for the Red Sox in 2015—posting a 1.55 ERA with 36 strikeouts and just 5 walks. However, Boston is shooting for a younger, more "elite" starter to place at the top of a rotation that already seems filled out. So, Hill will be allowed to find another home. We wish him the best.
