Yankees To Honor The Victims Of 9/11 Attacks Tonight

Twin Towers Burning From Space
When reflecting on the events of September 11, 2001, petty little baseball rivalries seem inconsequential. Tonight, when the Yankees pay tribute to the victims of 9/11, we will all be New Yorkers. The horror of that day14 years ago will never be wiped from our memories—and never should be. Moreover, the efforts of Major League Baseball (particularly the Yankees and Mets) to heal the country in the aftermath of those events, will always be an inspiration. In New York, Washington D.C. and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, 2,977 souls lost their lives. Our country was forever transformed that day. We need to remember it well. And we need to remain vigilant regarding the threats to our freedom that still exist today.
