Porcello Has Solid Outing, Takes Hard-Luck Loss, 3-1

(Exclusive FenwayNation Photo)
Rick Porcello had his second very solid outing since coming off the disabled list in a crushing 3-1 loss to The Evil Ones. An error by first-baseman Travis Shaw opened the door for The Bronx Embalmers to score two runs on a two-out double by the usually offensively-challenged ex-Carmine Hoser Stephen Drew. Drew's hit wiped out a 1-0 Boston lead—and the deficit grew to 3-1 on Porcello's only real mistake (a slider to Brett Gardner that ended up in the right-field grandstands). Porcello threw eight brilliant innings, giving up just one earned run and striking out a career-high 13. Boston's only run came on a Pablo Sandoval single driving in Jackie Bradley, Jr. (who had two doubles). Luckily, the Blue Jays won, so The Pinstriped Posers could not gain any ground in the AL East. We'll take it.
