Multiple sources are now reporting that former Angels GM
Jerry DiPoto has been hired on an "interim" basis by the Red Sox. Presumably, DiPoto—
an "analytics" guy—will serve in the "President/CEO" capacity to be vacated by
Larry Lucchino. The story from Yawkey Way is that DiPoto will "help" with off-season moves. Dipoto "resigned" from the Angels job after reportedly feuding with Halo manager
Mike Scioscia. For those who don't remember, DiPoto was a Red Sox scout in 2003-4 and was thus part of the management team that broke "The Curse". Stay tuned for the possible dropping of other shoes!
