'Papi Power' Not Enough As Sox Fall Again, 7-6

David Ortiz did everything you could ask. He homered, hit a two-run double to put the team ahead late, and drove in a total of three runs in Boston's 7-6 loss to the Tigers. Blake Swihart also had a career day with three hits and two runs scored. But none of this offense could overcome more bad pitching—particularly the "seventh-inning itch" that has plagued The Carmine Hose all season long. This time it was Junichi Tazawa—on earlier in the game than usual—who coughed the game-winning two-run HR to former Red Sock Victor Martinez. That's all she wrote, folks—and Boston is still the only team in the AL without 50 wins.
