According the the Hall of Fame baseball writer, Carmine Hose GM Ben Cherington had a deal in place back in 2012 that would have brought current stud starter Jacob deGrom from the Metropolitans to the Red Sox. The guy going the other way to Flushing? The immortal Kelly Shoppach. When the Mets had second thoughts, they sent the equally-immortal Pedro Beato to Boston instead of deGrom. Oh, the humanity!
