Sox Ignore Fundamentals, Lose To Empire, 5-1

The Red Sox lapsed into a defensive coma last night, committing sloppy errors and near-errors to hand the Evil Ones a 5-1 victory. It was the fourth inning that was the most egregious—an endless frame with Pinstriped Posers "conga-lining" around the bases like a bad Bugs Bunny cartoon. Of course, The Centaur played his ignominious part—starting the scoring with a towering HR into the Monster Seats in the first inning. The only highlights for Boston were a searing Mookie Betts HR (his 10th, a solo shot) and the emergency pitching performance of Robby Ross, Jr. after starter Clay Buchholz injured his right elbow. That's right, sports fan, Buchholz is again injured in mid-season. Hopefully a Friday night MRI will prove no damage, but given his history, you just never know.
