Miley And Sox Take Two Steps Back, Lose, 8-6

Wade Miley had one 'shut-down' inning after his team gave him the lead yesterday—then, not so much. The quick-working lefty balked in one run and gave up six total in 5.1 innings of work in Boston's 8-6 loss to The Empire. When the home team scores six, they should come away with a win—a win that would have pushed The Carmine Hose to within 4.5 games of the AL East lead. As it stands at the the break, they are 6.5 back and back on their heels. Xander Bogaerts and Hanley Ramirez had two hits each, but it 'twas pitching that killed the beast. Alexi Ogando giving up a two-run, 9th-inning HR to a rookie was the eventual margin of defeat. On to Anaheim!
