After last night's 3-2 walk-off win by the Red Sox, The Japanese News celebrated the key roles played by both Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara. The right-handed relievers delivered back-to-back clean innings at the end of the contest—setting up the game-winning celebration after the bloop RBI by Xander Bogaerts. Uehara picked up the win in the 3-2 victory over the Orioles, demonstrating once again that his devastating splitter is as good as ever. Said Koji, "I really don’t care if I get the win, but this was a game we won in which everyone contributed, and I’m happy for that. It was good that I kept the ball low and hit my spots." Tazawa pitched a scoreless eighth inning—striking out two.
