This past November, the head of Boston's International Scouting department worked out 19-year old Cuban infielder Yoan Moncada in Guatemala. Now, we are learning—via FanGraphs.com's Kiley McDaniel—that the Red Sox and Evil Ones are the "heavy favorites" to land the youngster. Moncada has not yet been cleared by the US Government to be signed by an MLB team as an international free agent—so things may have to wait until this coming June. If the decks are cleared before that, look for a bidding war between the AL East rivals to grab the potential superstar. Moncada can play shortstop, third base or center field—but is lusted after primarily for his offensive skills.
