Red Sox Sign Boggs (Mitchell) To Minors Pact

Even though his name is Boggs, we're not clear whether he likes chicken. We're pretty sure, however, that he's never willed himself invisible. The Red Sox announced that they have inked relief pitcher Mitchell Boggs to a minor league contract—with an invitation to Spring Training. Boggs will be only 31 years old when The Carmine Hose report to Fort Myers, but he has struggled recently for both St. Louis and Colorado. After several years as an effective set-up guy, Boggs has regressed to the point that he only made it to AAA in 2014. That may be his ceiling with the Red Sox as well, but he has enough of a history of success that this signing is worth the risk.
