Ryan Lavarnway Claimed On Waivers By LAD

Ryan Lavarnway spent parts of four seasons (97 total games) with the Boston Red Sox. In that time, the 27-year old barely hit above The Mendoza Line (.201). He was thought to be a rising catching star after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2008 draft out of Yale University. He was part of the only all-Yale Red Sox battery when catching Craig Breslow. On Friday, he was claimed on waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was always a guy who looked like he should posses great power—but he's only had five major league HRs. We wish him the best in his new home at Chavez Ravine.
