Sox Reach Agreement With Justin Masterson

Some prodigal sons come, some prodigal sons go. In the case of Justin Masterson, it looks as if the former Red Sox hurler will become a Red Sox hurler again. ESPN.com's Buster Olney is reporting that Boston has "an agreement" in place to sign Masterson. It's unclear whether it's a one- or two-year pact, but the signing gives further shape to the 2015 rotation. Rick Porcello, Clay Buchholz, Wade Miley, Joe Kelly, and Masterson would be a decent group—if there's a true ace at the top. Boston can still make that happen (to a greater extent) by trading prospects for Cole Hamels or (to a lesser extent) by signing free-agent James Shields. Stay tuned, more stuff is certain to happen today.
