Daniel Nava hit a go-ahead grand slam and Xander Bogaerts added four more RBIs (including a three-run HR) to pace the Red Sox to an 8-4 win over the fading Royals. Boston took three-of-four from Kansas City—at a point when they desperately needed wins to keep alive in the post-season sweepstakes. Joe Kelly weather one bad inning to go six pretty slid innings for the win. Edwin Mujica delivered another cardiac ninth inning. Oh, did we mention that Mookie Betts got two more hits and is now batting .289? Now, The Valentine Magic Number is down to 4.
