Shelby Miller and
Joe Kelly were Best Men at their respective weddings. They have been best buds for a while. So, when they faced-off last night in St Louis, it was a little weird for both.
Boston took the game 2-1, but neither of the 'buddies' was involved in the decision—as it should be. Kelly pitched very well in his
Carmine Hose debut—going seven innings, while giving up just three hits and one earned run (almost exactly matching his buddy Miller).
Xander Bogaerts produced a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth to deliver the game-winner. Boston has finally reach 50 wins in game #113. For the cipher-impaired, that's a dismal .442 winning percentage.
