Are Sox Hoarding Middlebrooks For Giancarlo?

Part Of A Mega-Deal?
CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman speculates that Boston's hesitancy to trade Will Middlebrooks now might be because they're saving him to be part of a bigger deal for Giancarlo Stanton. Another, more mundane, reason could be that Boston needs all the right-handed power they can muster in their organization—and Middlebrooks has at least shown that capability in the past. As Heyman also points out, the Miami Marlins would demand a whole lot more than Middlebrooks for Stanton—likely a bevy of top Sox prospects. Given the current state of The Carmine Hose, the lack of pop in the organization, and the eventual departure of David Ortiz from the middle of their line-up, a mega-deal for Stanton would seem to make sense.
