David Ortiz hit his 450th career HR (a three-run shot) and Dustin Pedroia had three hits and three RBIs to propel the Red Sox to an 8-5 win over The Bronx Embalmers at The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street. John Lackey was off with his location but got his ninth win nevertheless in five difficult innings. Mookie Betts made his MLB debut—going 1-3 with a walk and a run scored. Both Pedroia and Jackie Bradley, Jr. made stellar defensive plays—the latter throwing out Carlos Beltran at the plate. Boston returns home for a three-game set with Theo Epstein's Chicago Cubs.
