Just when you thought this team had started to show some of the character of last year's squad, they go out and lay a two-egg Wendy's Grand Slam stinker—
losing to the Rays, 2-1 and 6-5. In the opening tilt, a bad review call by
New York Review Central missed
Dustin Pedroia clearly crossing home plate before the tag (which would have knotted the score at 2-2). In the nightcap, Boston rallied from a 2-0 deficit to plate five runs in the fifth—only to incrementally give back the lead via
Felix Doubront and the bullpen (including a monster GWHR off
Koji Uehara). All in all, it was an ugly night—and don't even get us started on the Bruins!
