According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Red Sox are among five serious teams looking to sign reliever Joel Hanrahan. The other four clubs are: The Evil Ones, the Rockies, the Tigers and the Rangers. Hanrahan is about one year out from Tommy John surgery, and impressed scouts at his recent open workout (hitting the mid-90s on radar guns). Hanrahan has always been a favorite of the Red Sox—a team he dominated in limited inter-league play before being acquired by Boston last season. He struggled in his short stay in Carmine Hose and ultimately injured his elbow.
