Sox Rally Comes Up Short; Fall To Rangers, 10-7

It all started with Felix Doubront and Burke Badenhop. Both Red Sox pitchers were astonishingly ineffective last night—allowing the Texas Rangers to build an 8-0 lead after three and one-half innings—before the Pink Hats could find their seats and guzzle their first $8.50 watered-down beer. With a furious late rally, Boston closed the gap, but ultimately lost the game, 10-7. Aside from the dismal pitching, there were some positives. Jackie Bradley, Jr. continued to send management the message that he never wants to see AAA again—going 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Mike Napoli, Grady Sizemore and A. J.  Pierzynski collected three hits each—in fact, Boston outhit Texas 14-13! And, Brandon Workman went four solid innings in relief—giving up just one earned run and striking out three. Of course, he was demoted to AAA immediately. The teams wrap up the homestand today at 4:05 PM before the Red Sox head to Baghdad on the Hudson for a four-game set with The Bronx Embalmers.
