Basically, it was the battery that won this one: Jon Lester and his eight brilliant innings and David Ross and his 9th-inning opposite field RBI double. Boston had gotten just one hit going into the final frame (Xander Bogaerts' first 2014 HR), then Ross got his key hit (after one-out singles by Mike Carp and Mike Napoli). Then, Jonathan Herrera got an RBI bunt single to pad the lead to 3-1. That's all Koji Uehara needed to seal the 3-1 win in the bottom of the frame. The team comes back to Boston 3-4 on the road trip.
