Papi And Peavy Provide Powerful Series Win

They had lost four of five on their opening homestand. They were behind 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth—down to their last five outs. 'Who ya gonna call?' How about that Papi guy? With runners on the corners and one out, David Ortiz lifted a towering fly ball well above Pesky Pole down the right-field line. "If it stays fair..." It did. Red Sox 4, Rangers 2. Jake Peavy pitched brilliantly once again—and had nothing to show for it in the end. Peavy went 6.2 innings, giving up just one earned run and striking out eight. The win gave Boston the series win—after being swept by the Brewers—and propelled them to the big showdown with The Bronx Embalmers.
