Lester Finally Gets Support, Sox Top NYY, 4-2

It didn't look good for while. Jon Lester had made just one mistake (a HR to Alfonso Soriano) and was trailing again, 1-0. Then, the guy we said shouldn't be hitting lead-off—Jonny Gomes—went yard to even the score. Old friends next had an encounter—when Grady Sizemore smacked a three-run HR off former Tribe teammate CC Sabathia. That was pretty much all she wrote in the 4-2 win, as Lester survived through 6 2/3, giving up just two runs (the last thanks to another blown umpire call) and six hits. The lasting story out of this game may be whether closer Koji Uehara 's "shoulder stiffness" is serious or not. Edward "HighWire" Mujica pitched a perfect ninth in Uehara's absence for the save.
