Joel Hanrahan Will Throw For Sox And Empire

Hanrahan At Fenway
A bevy of major league scouts—including those from the Red Sox and Yankees—will witness a workout today by former Red Sox reliever Joel Hanrahan. While Boston seems to have found their closer answer in Koji Uehara, his recent health scare (not to mention the circumstances that led to Koji last year) suggests that 'more is more' in today's bullpen. Hanrahan had a really bad experience in Boston (7.1 IP, 8 ER, 9.82 ERA), but the team appears ready to sign up for a second look. His pre-Boston talents were unquestioned—in four years at Pittsburgh he posted 82 saves, a 2.98 ERA and a strike-out-to walk ratio of 2.70. Stay tuned.
